We are excited to have you join us this summer in NYC. Get ready to join the legacy of art students who are seeking to use their artistic gifts for the glory of God and the building of His Kingdom in their life & art.
Tribeca Arts celebrates its 8th summer in NYC and is poised to give you a unique experience integrating your art and faith. This year is our second year to do a "lite" project and so it will be a bit different in terms of content than many other summer projects you may have heard about. The core values we hold: creating, partnering, mentoring, collaboration, the Kingdom, still shape the direction of all we will do.
We hope you will experience an intersection of Jesus, Art and Story as we delve into what it means to be both a Christ-follower as well as an artist. We will be engaging a community that includes artists, young professionals, lower-income, and more as we dialogue through the usage of Soularium. We will be partnering with Here’s Life Inner city utilizing their newly renovated warehouse to create and collaborate. You will engage in the art world of NYC by hearing from professionals as well as going to some of the art galleries. It will be a jam packed 21 days!
Welcome on behalf of all the staff that will be with you this summer,
Kirk Irwin
DATES of TRIBECA Arts Project:
June 20–July 10
Content of Invitation Card:
The vocation of the arts has not colored the Church for a long time. But what has been a winter for artists who are Christians is turning into a spring. Barbara Nicolosi, scriptwriter & ActOne founder recently observed fewer churches are asking whether artists but who are artists. Artists are beginning to have a more active role in the progression of God’s Kingdom on this earth, but there is still work to be done. Beautiful works need to be created, deep ideas of theology and the arts need to be wrestled over, and relationships and networks of artists need to be formed.
Artists who love Jesus can do just that in New York City during the TRIBECA Summer Arts Project. In this three week project artists will create pieces of art both individually and collaboratively. They will participate in times of teaching and discussion over issues of faith and art. And they will form relationships within the project and in the city (in partnership with Here’s Life Inner City*) looking to extend God’s Kingdom in beautiful and gracious ways. All this to color the Church with a vocation who’s object is beauty.
*Here’s Life Inner City is the urban mercy ministry arm of Cru. Both transFORM (an arts ministry in Cru) and Here’s Life began a partnership last year to help share the beauty of the gospel to New York—trusting God to make it a more beautiful place.
